Midrange Calculator

Mid Range Calculator is an online tool that helps to find the midrange value of any data set. This mid range calculator evaluates the average of maximum and minimum values of given data sets. It provides accurate results with detailed steps in seconds, which helps in the analysis of any data.

What is Midrange?

Midrange is a statistical measure that represents the midpoint values of the highest and lowest values of a given data set. It is simply called the average value of the maximum and minimum values of the dataset which shows the range of data.
This statistical measure also shows the central tendency of the data and provides an approximate center of the data range. Mid-range is calculated by using the mathematical formula, which is explained below.

Midrange Formula

The mid-range formula is like the average of two numbers that are used to calculate the midrange value of two numbers. It mathematically stated as:

midrange calculator

For example: If the smallest value of the dataset is 10 and the largest is 50, then the midrange is “30”. Mid range = 50 + 10 / 2 = 30.

How to Find Midrange?

To find the midrange of a dataset, follow the below steps:

  1. Note the max and min values of the given dataset.
  2. Put the values in the mid-range formula and simplify to get the midrange values.

This calculation will give the average of the highest and lowest values of the datasets. For quick results use our midrange calculator, which provides the accurate midrange value for any set of numbers.

Midrange Examples

Here, we perform some manual examples to understand how to calculate the midrange of any data. It improves the concept of calculating the midrange through a manual process by using the mid range formula.

Example 1: Find the midrange of the following given data:

Dataset = {41, 77, 18, 121, 34, 112, 87, 21}.

Solution:

Step 1: Identify the max and min values from the given data set.

Max = 121,               Min = 18

Step 2: Apply the formula of midrange.

Midrange = (18 + 121)/2

Midrange = 139/2 = 69.5

Thus, the midrange of the above data is “69.5”.

Example 2: Calculate the midrange value of the prices of different products, that are given in “$” in the below data set:

Dataset = {15, 40, 25, 60, 35}

Solution:

Step 1: Note the maximum and minimum values from the given data.

Max = 15,               Min = 60

Step 2: Put values in mid-range formula and simplify for the final value.

Midrange = (60+15)/2

Midrange = (75)/2 = 37.5

Thus, the midrange price is “37.5 $”.

To verify the results of the above examples use our midrange calculator.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to calculate midrange?
Find the sum of the smallest & largest values and divide by 2, to get the mid-range value.

What is the difference between midrange and range?
The midrange is the average of the largest and smallest data points and shows the midpoint value of the data. However, range is the difference between the largest and smallest data points in a numerical data set.

Can this calculator handle large datasets?
Yes, our mid range calculator handles every size of dataset either small or large. You can enter positive, negative, or decimal data point values in input box and get accurate results instantly.
